INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE
OUT-PENSIONERS OF CHELSEA HOSPITAL.

All Out-Pensioners (as well Letterman as others) belonging to the said Hospital,
who live at a greater Distance than Twenty-five Miles from London, and those in
Scotland and Ireland, are hereby required and commanded, that immediately after
the 25th of December, 1764, and after every succeeding 25th of June and Decem-
ber, till further Orders, they forthwith apply themselves to one of His Majesty's
Justices of the Peace in the Neighbourhood where they reside; and make the fol-
lowing Affidavit, which the said Magistrate for the County, City, Borough, or
Riding, before whom the Pensioner appears, will sign and date, viz.

and that he is no otherwise provided for by the Government
but as a Pensioner , of the said College; and now lives in the
Parish ofin the County of

To the End that the Commissioners for the Affairs of the said Hospital may be
satisfied, that they are the same Persons who have passed their Examinations; the
Pensioners are hereby directed, that such of them as have served in, and been
discharged from any of the Regiments, or Independent Companies of Invalids,
are not to mention in their Affidavits, such Regiment or Company of Invalids in
which they served, but the Regiment, Troop, or Corps of the Army from which
they were first discharged, and recommended and received to Chelsea Hospital .

The Affidavit drawn according to the above Form, sworn before, dated and
attested by a Magistrate, is to be put up in a Cover, and sent by the General Post,
(directed thus) "To the Right Honourable the Pay Master General of His
"Majsety's Land Forces, at the Horse Guards , London, "at the Terms above-
mentioned; and that Counterparts or Duplicates of the said Affidavit be reserved
by the Out-Pensioners respectively, to be exhibited to such Persons as shall be
directed to pay them; that they may be satisfied that all such as may claim Out-
Pensioners, are the real Persons intitled to receive the same.

Lastly, It is notified, that none will be entered upon the Pay-Lists of the said
Hospital, or be thought intitled to receive any Benefit therefrom, who shall not
act agreeable to these Orders and Directions.

N. B. The Pensioner is desired to indorse the Affidavit with the Regiment,
Name, and Date.
