Informations of Witness taken
this 9 August 1797 at the House
of Fredk John Hitch< no role > the Sign of the King's head Knightsbridge
Parish of St. Margaret on view of the Bodies of
Thos. Taylor< no role > a Private in the 11th light Dragoon
being sworn saith that he wentwasto by the Serpentine River
this morning to meet two persons according to
appointment they were two young women- when he
arrived they were there & they said there was two
Dogs in the River. he looked & saw perceived they
were a Man & Woman. some time after this
he went into the River (having first been to the
Barracks to get a Comrade & a Rope for assistance
he brought them both out in the Man's pocket he
found 3 Thimbles in the Woman's pocket he
found one Thimble & a black Snuff Box.
he saw these two persons walking together yesterday
& believes the Man's Name is Rust & a Tayler
by profession they were soon taken to the
Watch House & an old Man standing by said it was
his Wife. a young Man in company with the sd.
old Man said "Dam you it is not your Wife & took him
away"
