Information of Witnesses
taken this 13 July 1797
of the Dwelling House of Thos Jones< no role > the Sign of
the Bell York Street parish of St. Margt. on view of the
Body of Thomas Tansley< no role >

Charles King< no role > Labouring Man to Mr Matther Soap Boiler
in York Street being sworn saith that the Deced a Private in ye [..] Batal: of 3d Guards has been employed
by Mr Matther as a labourering Man for 13 Yrs. past
& understood inthe Business perfectly well he was
employed yesterday to lift up the Lids of the
Boiler (about one o'Clock) about 2 o'Clock on this
Dept had returned from Dinner & was just entering
the warehouse he saw at the end he he have the
Deced fall into [..] one of the Coppers then nearly
full of boiling Soap. this Dept. went immediately
to the Copper but did not see the deced the
perceived that the Rope belongs to of the Lid of the opposite
Boiler had broken asunder by means whereof the
deced fell backward into the Copper behind him
this Dept. & mather immediately Searched &
found the deced at the bottom of the boiler this
dept cannot say whether the Rope was sound but
he never knew any application made by way of
