Informations of Witnesses
taken this 30th. June 1797 in the
Parish of St. Margaret Westmr at
the House of Edward Harris< no role > Sign of the
Chequer Broad Sanctuary Westmr
before Anthony Gell< no role > his Majestys
Coroner for the sd. City & Liberty
touching that Death of Martha Johnson< no role >
then & there lying dead as follow
to Wit

Richard Gwyn< no role > of Princes Street Apothecary
being sworn deposeth that about a Week or ten days
back he was sent for to the deceased (when he found her
in a high Fever which from Circumstances he had
reason to believe was the Effect of having to much
Spiritous Liquors whereupon he gave her an
Emetic which brought off a considerable
Quantity of black Fetid Matter and in order
to cleanse the Bowels he gave some Medicine
which would stay on her Stomach upon which
which he recommended an Injection which
produced some Effect but as that did not remove
the Disorder he ordered some Cathartic Pills
which produced some Effect at the time and this
Deponent advised her to Change her Lodgings as
the Room she was in was very damp improper
place
