to wit,


An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of John Smith< no role > the Sign of the Kings head James Street Parish of
St. Margaret within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church
of St. Peter, Westminster , in the County of Middlesex , the tenth day of May 1797
in the thirty seventh Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third,
by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith,
and so forth, before Anthony Gell< no role > , Esq. Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City
and Liberty, on View of the Body of Sarah Platt< no role > then and there
lying dead, upon the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are here under written, and
Seals affixed, good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly chosen, who being then and
there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our Lord the King, when, how, and by
what Means the said Sarah Platt came to h er Death, do upon
their Oath say that the said Sarah Platt not being of sound Mind
Memory and Understanding but lunatic and distracted ont the sixth
day of May in the year aforesaid at the Parish and in the Liberty aforesd.
a certain Knife Made of Iron and Steel which she the said Sarah Platt
then and there had and held in her right hand to and against
the Throat or Gullett of her the said Sarah Platt did then and
there strike stab and Penetrate thereby then and there giving
unto herself the said Sarah Platt one Mortal Wound: Of which said
said Mortal she the said Sarah Platt did languish languishing did
Live until the ninth day of May; on which said ninth day of May
in the year aforesaid at the westminster Infirmary she the said Sarah
Platt of the said [..] Mortal Wound did die. And so the Jurors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Sarah Platt not
being of sound MInd Memory and Understanding but lunatic &
distracted in manner& by Means aforesaid, did kill herself
IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors, have to this Inqusition
set their Hands and Seals the Day, Year, and Place first above written.
