In Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the house of Peter Boyd< no role >
the Sign of the Coach and Horses in Marlborough Street in the Parish of Saint James within the Liberty of
the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter, westminster , in the County of Middlesex the
twenty third day of May 1796 in the thirty sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third
by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth before
Anthony Gell< no role > Esqr. Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty on view of the Body of
an Infant Female Child then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names
are hereunder written and seals affixed good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly chosen, who being
then and there duly sworn and charged. to enquire for our said Lord the King when, how, and by what
Means the said female child came to her death, do, upon their oath say, that some person (to these Jurors
unknown) not having the Fear of God before his or her Eyes, but moved and seduced by the Instigation of the Devil
[..] some time previous to the said twenty third day of May, but, at what time to these Jurors unknown, withforce
and arms, at the parish aforesaid, within the Liberty aforesaid in and upon the said female child in the peace
of God and of our said Lord the King, then and there being feloniously wilfully and of his or her Malice
aforethought, did make an assault, And that the said person her the said female Child did then
and there into a certain Privy or Necessary House belonging to two Houses No. 26 & 27 in Tickbourne Street
(one of which said two Houses now being uninhabited) within the Liberty aforesaid then and there
feloniously wilfully & of his or her Malice aforethought did violently cast and throw down (having
first cut the throat of the said female Infant Child) by means whereof she the said female Infant
Child in the Soil or Filth then and there contained in the said Privy or necessary House was then
and there suffocated and Smothered: Of which said Suffocation and Smothering she the said female
Infant Child then and there instantly died: And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath
aforesaid, do say, that the said person unknown, her, the said female Infant
Child in manner and by the Means aforesaid feloniously wilfully and of his or
her Malice aforethought did kill and Murder against the Peace of our said Lord
The King his Crown and Dignity: And that after the said Person (to these Jurors
unknown) had done and committed the Felony and Murder aforesaid, in manner and by the
Means aforesaid, he or her withdrew and fled for the same. In Witness whereof
as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set their
hands and Seals the day year and place first above-written
