An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of Robert Martin< no role > the Sign of the York Arms in Clarges Street parish of
St. George Hanover Square within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church
of St. Peter, Westminster , in the County of Middlesex , the twenty third day of November 1795
in the thirty sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third,
by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith,
and so forth, before Anthony Gell< no role > , Esq. Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City
and Liberty, on View of the Body of Thomas Clarke< no role > then and there
lying dead , upon the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are here under written, and
Seals affixed, good and lawful Men of the said Liberty,duly chosen, who being then and
there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King, when, how , and by
what Means the said Thomas Clarke< no role > came to his Death, do upon
their Oath say That the said Thomas Clarke< no role > not being of sound Mind
Memory and Understanding but lunatic and distracted on the
twentieth day of November in the Year aforesaid at the Parish and in the
Liberty aforesaid at the Dwelling House of him the said Thomas Clarke< no role > in
Clarges Street aforesaid with a certain Rasor made of Iron and Steel which
he the said Thomas Clarke< no role > then and there had and held in his
right hand, the Throat or Gullet of him the said Thomas Clarke< no role >
did then and there strike slab and penetrate thereby then and there
giving unto himself the said Thomas Clarke< no role > so being lunatic and
distracted as aforesaid with the Racor aforesaid in and upon the
Throat or Gullet of him the said Thomas Clarke< no role > one Mortal wound
of the Length of two Inches and of the Depth of one Such. of which said
Mortal Wound he the said Thomas Clarke< no role > did languish and languishing
did live untill the [..] twenty first day of November in the year aforesaid on which
said [..] twenty first day of November in the year aforesaid at the Parish & in the Liberty
aforesaid he the said Thomas Clarke< no role > of the said Mortal Wound, did die And
so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that their said Thomas
Clarke
< no role > not being of sound Mind Memory and Understanding but lunatic and
distracted in manner and by the means aforesaid, did Kill hims off

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors, have to this Inquisition
set their Hands and Seals the Day, Year, and Place first above written.
