An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Dwelling House of John Tittley< no role > the Sign of the Bell in Market Street Parish of Saint James
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the twenty fifth day of October 1794 in the thirty fifth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Anthony
Gell
< no role > , Esq. Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of James Murphy< no role > an Infant then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are hereunder written and Seals
affixed
good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said James Murphy< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say that the said James Murphy< no role > being only of the Age of four
years and three Months on the twenty second day of October in the year aforesaid being alone
in the Apartment or Lodging Room of the Mother of him the said James Murphy< no role > situate
in North Row in the Parish and Liberty aforesaid It so happened, that the Cloaths
which he the said James Murphy< no role > then and there had on his Body, accidentally, casually
and by Misfortune took Fire, by Reason whereof and from the Smoak & Flame arising
from the said Fire, he the said James Murphy< no role > was then and there suffocated and
buont; Of which said Suffocation and Burning he the said James Murphy< no role >
at the Hospital of St. George Hanover Square on the same day died. And so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that, the said James Murphy< no role >
in manner and by the Means aforesaid accidentally, casually and by Misfortune
came to his Death and not otherwise. It Witness whereof as well the said
Coroner as the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set their hands and Seals
the day, year and place first above written.
