An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of James Russ< no role > the Sign of the King's Head in James Street Parish of Saint Margaret
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the eighteenth day of September in the thirty fourth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Anthony
Gell
< no role > , Esq. Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of John Mimms< no role > then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are hereunder
written and Seals affixed

good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said John Mimms< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say that the said John Mimms< no role > Servant to Lord Lewisham
on the fourth day of September in the year aforesaid at the Parish of St. John Croydon< no role >
in the County of Surrey then and there being intoxicated with Liquor and
endeavouring to get up behind the Coach of Lord Lewisham aforesaid It so
happened that accidentally, casually, and by Misfortune he the said John Mimms< no role >
fell between the Hind-wheel and the Springs of the said Coach by Means whereof he the said John Mimms< no role > then and
there received divers Bruises on his eight leg and Thigh; of which said Mortal Bruises he
the said John Mimms< no role > did languish and languishing did live untill the Seventeenth
day of the same Month in the same Year at the Westminster Infirmary within the
City and Liberty aforesaid; On which said seventeenth day of September in the year
aforesaid at the Infirmary aforesaid he the said John Mimms< no role > of a Mortification
produced by the Bruises so received as aforesaid did die. And so the Jurors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid, do say, that the said John Mimms< no role > in manner and
by the Means aforesaid, accidentally, Casually, and by Misfortune came to his
Death, and not otherwise and that the said Hind Wheels & Springs of the said
Coach were moving to the Death of the said John Mimms< no role > and are of the Value
of five Shillings the Property and in the Possession of Lord Lewisham aforesaid
his Assignee or Assigns. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said
Jurors have to this Inquisition set their hands and Seals the day, Year & Place
first above Written.
