Abel Wood< no role > a Soldier in the Coldstream Regiment of Guards
being sworn saith that Wednesday last the 17th. April Instant
he came out the Hospital in Petty France and when he got home
to his Lodging in Gardners Line abot. 3 o'Clock in the afternoon
he was informed [..] that the deceased had been very much burned that
day abot. half past one o'Clock at a Neighbours house the
Ship in Charles Street whereupon he went to the Shipand
had bebrought home immediately when she informed
him that Retry Thompson Mother locked then in the Room
at her Lodging Room at the Ship whilst she went out
about some business, that the deceased got the Bellows
and was blowing the Fire, and [..] whilst so doing
her Frock Etc. took Fire and burnt her in a miserable
manner before any one came to her Assistance; that her
own Mother wondering why she did not return home
went to the Ship and burnt open the Room door when
she found her Child had got into the Cradle and was very
