of February 1790 at the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Middlesex upon an
Inquisition touching the death
of Roberts a Female Infant Child
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County

Mary Roberts< no role > Wife of William Roberts< no role > Victualler
at the Sign of the Black Horse in Axendon [..]
in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields [..]
Oath saith, That Elizabeth English< no role > was hired
Nurse this Dept. (who has been brought to Bed
of the Female Child a little more than a Month
and has afterwards had the care of the Child, Says
that last Tuesday (Febry 23..) there was a great
deal of Company Dec [..] pefred in Depts. House; That
about One o'Clock in the Morning Dept. saw
Hannah Cumming< no role > the Maid Servant who appeared
to be in Liquor and Dept. sent her to Bed
Says that both she and the Nurse assisted to
wait on the Company at times that Night and
Dept. can not say when the Nurse went to Bed,
Says that about four o'Clock Dept. went upstairs
to see the Child, That she found the Nurse asleep
upon the Bed, and that Hannah Cumming the
Maid was in Bed assleep and the Child lying
on her left side her Arm being over the Child
Head, the Child being dead, Says that one [..]
of the Child's face was red, and Dept. believes
that the Child was Suffocated and Strangled
Accidentally by the Maid's Arm lying upon
his Head, Says that the Nurse usually took
care of the Child,
