Informations taken this twenty
eighth day of January 1789 at
the Parish of St. Ann within the Liberty
of Westmr. in the County of Midsex upon
an Inquisition touching the death of
Edward Mortimer< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County

Charles Edward< no role > of [..] Street Newport Market
Laborer on his Oath saith, That he and Edward
Mortimer
< no role > the Deced used to Work at Porters in
the Market, That Yesterday about half
past Six in the Afternoon That Deced and this
Dept. were employed to take some Fat from
Mr. Gilks in the Market to Mr. Freeman
in Chapel Street in the Parish of St. Ann
Westmr. and were Wheeling it in a Barron
by Turns Says that they were together
and went into Mr. Freeman's the Deced
going in first and speaking to Mr.
Freeman, that Deced came out imediately
and being come down the Steps upon the
Stone Pavement the Deced imediately
fall down backwards upon the Stone
Pavement said Christ, was not able
to speak or move himself, and died
immediately, Says that the Deced reced
a Wound on the back part of his Head
which bled, and Dept says that [..]
was the cause of Deced's Deathhe thinks
the Deced was Seized with a Fit
which made the Deced fall down
and was the cause of Deced's Death.
