Informations taken this Twentieth
day of November 1787 at the Parish
of St. Margaret within the Liberty
of Westmr. in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the
death of Elizabeth Bailey< no role > & Phobe
Barley
< no role > an Infant severally lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

John Whitehead< no role > Porter to his Majestys
Stationary Office in New Palace Yard
Westmr . on his Oath saith That this Morning
about forty Minutes after Six o'Clock Dept
was going by the End of Westmr. Bridg on
the Westmr. side and was informed by
a Prentice of Mr. Audley that a Person
was Drowned [..] in the Thames near the
Wooden Bridge in the Parish of St.
Margaret Westmr. Says that he went
to the Woman who lay upon her Far
in the Thomas, and that he found a
Female Child in the Water about a Yard
from the Woman & a House between then that he carried the
Child to the Shore and laid it upon the
Wooden Bridge , being Drowned Says
that he with a Hock and with the
Assistance of another Man pulled the
Woman to the Shore and laid her on
the Wooden Bridge by the Child being
likewise Drowned, and appeared to have
been Several Hours in the water Says
that no Marks of violence appeared
on the Body either of the Woman or Child
