An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at The Parish of Saint John the Evangelist
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the fifteenth day of August in the twenty sixth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman, Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of a new born Female Child then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of Peter Pirvean, Thomas Ride< no role > , Edward Ager< no role > .

< no role > , and John Norman< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Female Child came to
h er Death, do upon their Oath say , That on the Fourteenth day of August, in the
year aforesaid, a certain Woman unknown did bring forth the said Female
Child alive, and that on the same Day and Year a certain Person or Persons to the
Jurors aforesaid unknown, with Force and Arms at the Parish aforesaid, within the
Liberty and County aforesaid, in and upon the said Female Child in the Peace of
God and our said Lord the King then and there being feloniously wilfully and of his
her or their Malice of Thought did make an [..] And that the [..]
or Persons to the Jurors aforesaid as yet unknown the said Female Child then and
there feloniously wilfully and of his her or their Malice aforethought unto the River
Thames did Cast and throw by Means of which said Casting and Throwing, She
the said Female Child in the Water of the said River Thames was then and
there Suffocated and Drowned, And that the said Person or Persons unknown
of his her or their Malice aforethought, the said Female Child in Manner and
Form aforesaid, did then and there kill and Murder, against the peace of our
said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity

In Witness whereof, as well
the said Coroner , as the said Peter Pirveau< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors on
the behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows in their Presence have to
this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year, and
Place above written
