An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of Saint James
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Nineteenth day of August in the twenty fourth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman, Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of a New Born Female Child then and there lying dead, upon

good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said New Born Female Child came to
h er Death, do upon their oath say That Elizabeth Curtis< no role > This name instance is in set 725. This set is in the group(s): MothersOBP . late of the Parish aforesaid in
the Liberty and County aforesaid, single Woman on the Eighteenth day of August in the Year aforesaid being big with
the said Female Child afterwards to wit on the same Day in the same Year at the Parish aforesaid in the Liberty aforesaid
in the County aforesaid the said Female Child alone and Security from her Body by the Residence of God did bring forth alive which said Female
Child by the Laws and Customs of this Roalin was a Bastard, and that the said Elizabeth Curtis< no role > not having the Fear,
of God before her Eyes but Moved and Seduced by the Instigation of the Devil afterwards to wit on the Same Day
and in the same Year with Force and Arms at the Parish aforesaid in the Liberty aforesaid in the County aforesaid in and upon
the said Female Bastard Child So Aline and in the Peace of God and of our said Lord the King then and there being
Feloniously Wilfully and of her Malice forethought did make an Assault, and that she the said Elizabeth
Curtis
< no role > with both her Hands about the Neck of her the said Female Bastard Child then and there fixed, she
the said Female Bastard Child did then and there Feloniously Wilfully and of her Malice forethought Choak
Strought and Suffocate of which said Choating Strangling and Suffocation she the said Female Bastard Child
then and there instanlly Died And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, That the said
Elizabeth Curtis< no role > her the said Female Bastard Child in manner and by the means aforesaid Feloniously
Wilfully and of her Malice His thought did Kill and Murder against the Peace of our said Lord the King his
Crown and Dignity. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the Foreman of the Jurors aforesaid on
behalf of himself and the rest of the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year
and at the Place above written
