Informations taken this Ninth day of
July 1784 at Knightsbridge in the Parish
of St. Margaret within the Liberty of
Westmr. in the County of Midsex upon an
Inquisition touching the death of William
Bembow
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

William Hawkridge< no role > at No.3. Haydon Court
Swallow Street Shoemaker on his Oath saith that
Yesterday Morning between Nine and Ten o'Clock the
Deced and this Dept. come together to Hydepark in
order to Bathe in the Serpentine River, Says that
they Both undressed themselves and went into the
River, Says that the Deced Swam about Fifteen
Yards into the River and turned back that they watched
each other, That the Deced then said that he
thought he could swim across, and accordingly
Swam until he got about fifteen Yards from
the opposite Shore, when he Sunk, That the
Deced came up three times and afterwards Sunk
Says that a Boat was got, and the Deced brought
to the Shore, appearing to be dead, Says that
Mr. Jackson for some time endeavoured to recover
the Deced, but without effect, the Deced being dead
and Dept. says that he was Accidentally Drowned.
