Informations taken this Twenty sixth
day of March 1784 at the Parish of
St. James within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the Death of Rachell Clark< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County

Ann< no role > the Wife of John James< no role > of Swallow Street
in the Parish of St. James Westmr . Chandler on
her Oath Saith That Rachell Clark< no role > the Deced
has Lodged with Dept. almost five months
excepting about ten days that she was in Place
Says that Deced almost every Morning came
down Stairs and Breakfasted with Dept. and
the Deced Breakfasted below Stairs yesterday
Morning upon Coffee between Eight and Nine
o Clock Says that she this Dept. afterwards went up Stairs
to make her Bed on the First Floor, and Deced
followed, and asked Dept. to go out with her to
Buy a few things being to go to a Place
that Day, and wished Dept. to send to ask
Mr. Pearce whether it would be equally
agreeable if she went that be Afternoon and
upon Dept. advising her to go herself Deced
turned out of the Room & went up Stairs
into her own Room, it being then between
Nine & Ten o'Clock, Says that Deced not
coming down, Dept. went up Stairs about
half hour after two o'Clock that Afternoon to see
where Deced was, That on her going into Deceds
Room, the Door of which was not quite Shut,
Dept. saw the Deced Hanging being quite upright
and appearing to be dead, Says that Mr. James
was immediately called and cut the Ribband
which was fastened to the foot of a Turned up
Bed
