Informations taken this fifth day
of January 1784 at the Parish of St
Martin in the Fields within the Liberty
of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the
death of a Male Child and also of
a Female Child lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

James Mason< no role > of Charles Court in the Parish
of St. Martin in the Fields Porter on his Oath
Saith That on Saturday Morning Last the
Third day of January Instant about Night o'Clock Dept. was
Walking under the Shore between the
Stairs at the bottom of Charles Court and
the Water Works York Buildings in the
Parish of St Martin in the Fields , and
there in the [..] between two pieces of He found
a Parcel tied in Brown Paper which
he took up, and carried it to the Shore
at Black Lyon Causeway Says that on
opening the Parcel he found therein
two Children appearing to be shall
Says that the Children looked fresh and
did not appear to have been long in the
Water, the Side Ebbing at that time
Says that a great Number of the Neighbour
came there and saw the. Children is and
Dept. then want about his Business leaving
[..] there, Says that he observed
no, [..] violence upon either of the Children

John Barker< no role > Laborer at Mr. Cranage a
Coal Merchant at Hungerford Market on
his Oath saith That on Saturday Morning
last Mr. Moss acquainted this Dept. that
a Child was picked up and laid upon
a Bench the Bottom of Charles Court upon
which he went and saw the Male Child
which he carried to Mr. Cranage, who
ordered Dept. to put it out of the Way and
Dept. put the Child into a Hole near the
Shore
