Informations taken this Eighth day of
November 1784 at the Parish of St. George Hanover
Square within the Liberty of Westmr . in the
County of Midsex upon an Inquisition touching
touching the death of Joseph Longhurst< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

John Longhurst< no role > of Twickenham in the County of
Middlesex Tallow Chandler on his Oath saith That on
the fifth day of Novr. Instant Joseph Longhurst< no role > the Deced
Son to this Dept. (about five o'Clock in the Evening
walked out at Twickenham where there was a
Bonfire That Burst a Young Man of
Twickenham : had charged a Gun with Gunpowder
and left it, with one Hubbard a Lad of fourteen
Years,) who as Dept. was informed, put the Iron
Rod into the Gun, and when Burst returned
took the Gun and without knowing that the
Rod was in the Gun (as Dept. believes) Fired it
off and the Red Accidentally passed through the Deced's
Head who was standing about forty or Fifty
Yards distant, and unseen by Burst
it being Dusk. Says that he believes that
Burst had no Intention to hurt the Deced
and that it was merely Accidental.
