An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at Tothill Fields Bridewell in the Parish of St. Margaret
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Twenty eighth day of February in the twenty third
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman, Coroner of our said Lord the Ling for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of John Grocock a Prisoner then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of Henry Smith< no role > , Wiliam Brooks< no role > , John Best< no role >
Richard Lawrence< no role > , David Mecham< no role > , Mathew Hill< no role >
John Davis< no role > , Michael Harding< no role > , Thomas Thompson< no role > , William
Woods
< no role > , John Taylor< no role > and Thomas Lane< no role > good and Lawful Man of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly Sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said John Gocock came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say , That the said John Grocock< no role >
being a Prisoner in Tothill Fields Bridewell in the
Parish aforesaid within the Liberty and County
aforesaid on the said Twenty eighth day of February
in the year aforesaid at Tothill Fields Bridewell
aforesaid departed this Life in a natural way to Wit
of a Cancer on the Right side of his Head.
In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner
as the said Henry Smith< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors,
on the behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows
in their presence, have to this Inquisition set
their Hands and Seals the Day year and Place
above written
