An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint Paul Covent Gardens
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Twenty third day of August in the Twenty second
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman, Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of Thomas Holman< no role > then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of Thomas Jeremy< no role > , John Stroke< no role > William Hyde< no role > , Alexander Dewer< no role > ,
Joshua Perkins< no role > , Joseph Gage< no role > , Joseph Withers< no role > , John More< no role > , John Barnet< no role >
Samuel Barlow< no role > , Peter Vincent< no role > , Richard Morrison< no role > , and William Manning< no role >
good and Lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Thomas Holman< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say That the said Thomas Holman< no role > not being of
Sound Mind Memory and Understanding but Lunatic and Distracted on the Twenty first day of August
in the Year aforesaid at the Parish and in the Liberty and County aforesaid, a quantity of White Arsenic
being a Deadly Poison into a certain quantity of Liquor id then and there put and mix, and the
said White Arsenic so put and [..] ixt as aforesaid he the said Thomas Holman< no role > not being of Sound
Mind Memory and Understanding nut Lunatic and Distracted as aforesaid did then and there take
drink and Swallow down by means whereof he the said Thomas Holman< no role > became then and there
sick and distempered in his Body, and of the Poison aforesaid and of the Sickness and Distemper
thereby occasioned did then and there instantly Die. And to the Jurors aforesaid upon their
Oath aforesaid do say That the said Thomas Holman< no role > not being of Sound Mind Memory and
Understanding but Lunatic and Distracted in manner and by the Means aforesaid did Poison
and Kill himself. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the Foreman of the
Jurors aforesaid on behalf of himself and the rest of the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set
set their Hands and Seals the Day Year and at the Place above mentioned.
