An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of Saint Margaret
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Twenty seventh day of June in the twenty second Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Edward Webster< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of Michael
Castleden
< no role > Richard Hatch< no role > , Lawrence King< no role > , John Deacon< no role > ,
William Parker< no role > Robert Wray< no role > Leonard Clough< no role > , John Sutherland< no role >
John Haslop< no role > , William King< no role > , Benjamin Talbot< no role > and
John Smith< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Edward Webster< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said Edward Webster< no role > on the
Twenty second day of May in the Year aforesaid was unloading
a certain Cart in the Yard of John Unthank< no role > Cowkeeper situate
in the Parish of St. John the Evangelist within the Liberty
County aforesaid, and then and there being upon a Ladder
carrying Grass out of the said Cart in a Basket, It so happened
that the Ladder slipped, and that the said Edward Webster< no role > then
and there Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune fell down
upon the Stone Pavement in the said Yard, and thereby received
a Wound on the right side of the Head and a violent Concussion
in and upon the Brain of him the said Edward Webster< no role > , of which
said mortal Wound and Concussion he the said Edward Webster< no role > at the
said Parish of Saint Margaret within the Liberty and County
aforesaid from the said Twenty second day of May in the Year aforesaid
until the Twenty sixth day of June in the same Year did languish
and languishing did live, on which said Twenty sixth day of June
in the Year aforesaid he the said Edward Webster< no role > at the said Parish
of Saint Margaret of the mortal Wound and Concussion aforesaid
did die. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do
say, that the said Edward Webster< no role > in Manner and by the Means
aforesaid Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune came to his
death and not otherwise. In Witness whereof as well the said
Coroner as the said Michael Castleden< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors
on the behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows in their
presence have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals,
the Day Year and Place abovewritten.
