Informations taken this Nineteenth
day of June 1782 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the
County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of Samuel Dawes< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Elizabeth< no role > the Wife of Roger Gill< no role > at the Star
& Garter in Pall Mall in the Parish of St. James
Westmr. Victualler on her Oath saith, That Samuel
Dawes
< no role > the Deced has Lodged in Depts. House over
since last Novr. Says that the Deced came home
last Night a little after Twelve o'Clock, and did
not appear to be much in Liquor, Says that
the gave Deced a Candle and bid him go to Bed
Says that she told Deced that the Captain's Man
had been there and that he must go on
Board the Ship this Afternoon, to which
he gave little or no Answer, Says that
she left Deced in his Bedchamber, and
went to Bed, Says that this Morning a
little after Nine o'Clock she went to call Deced
and in his Bedchamber found the Deced
Hanging by a Linnen Handkerchief
fastened to the Bed Post at the foot of the Bed
and about his Neck with a Running Nose
Says that she Screamed out and went into
Fits, and that some People went up into
Deced's Room, and Dept. believes that the
Deced hanged himself.

Roger Gill< no role > on his Oath saith that he was this
Morning informed that the Deced had Hanged
himself in his Bedchamber, and believes that
the Deced Hanged himself, That the Deced
was
