Informations taken this fourteenth
day of December 1781 at the Parish of
St. Martin in the Fields within the Liberty
of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the death
of Thomas Dutton< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Shadrack Broughton< no role > a Laborer to Mr. John
Hatchett
< no role > of Long Acre in the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields Coachmaker on his Oath saith
That James Dodd< no role > Foreman of Mr. Hatchett's
Yard came to Dept. this Morning about
Eight oClock and desired him to bring a
Chesil to break open a Door to see if any
thing had happened to Thomas Dutton< no role > the Deced
(who was Coachman to Mr. Hatchett) Says that
he went with James Gates< no role > a Carpenter and
said Gates with a Chesil forced open a Door
into the Hayloft over Mr. Hatchett's Stable, Says
that on looking down into the Stable they
saw the Deced lying in the Stable at the feet of a Ladder
which leads out of the Stable in to the Hayloft
the Deced lying upon his face inc [..] the left side Says that the
Deced bled a little out of his Nose, That he
took hold of Deced & Arm, that the Deced was
very Shift and appeared to have been dead
some hours. Says that the Stable Door was
Locked and the Key in the Lock on the
inside of the Door, And Dept. apprehands
that the Deced Accidentally fell down out
of the Hayloft into the Stable and thereby
reced the hurt which Dept. believes to be
the Cause of Deceds Death
