Informations taken this Third day of
January 1781 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Midsex upon an Inquisition touching
the death of Charles Shelton< no role > lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty & County.

William Constable< no role > Apprentice to Mr. Abraham
Trinder
< no role > of St. James & Market Butcher on
his Oath saith That on Monday last (Jany. 1st)
about two o' Clock Dept. saw Charles Shelton< no role >
the Deced in St. James's Market being then
very sober, & saying that he was going to
carry two Casks some where where She
should have for or five [..] Drams, Says that
he came from Dinner about three o' Clock
and then saw the Deced in the Market
very much in Liquor, [..] llowing,
& flourishing his Fists towards a Young
Man there Says that the Deced fell down
upon his hands, but that the Young Man
nor any other Person either Struck or pushed
the Deced, who was so drunk that he could
not get up, Says that the Deced was laid
upon some Straw, and Slept there sometime
That between Six & Seven o' Clock that Evening
Mr. Trinder came there and Called the Deced
and having no Answer, Deced was moved
and appeared to be dead, That he was carried
to his Lording near the Market where Mr. Scott
the Apothecary bled him in the Arm, but he
bled very little and Mr. Scott said that Deced was
dead.
