Informations taken this Second
day of May 1780 at the Parish of St.
Martin in the Fields within the
Liberty of Westmr . in the County of
Middlesex upon an Inquisiton
touching the death of James Kelly< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

Stephen White< no role > Housekeeper to Mr. Hardings a
Coal Merchant in the Adelphi on his
Oath saith that yesterday in the forenoon
Dept. saw James Kelly< no role > the Deced (Servant
of Mr. Wm. Snell< no role > a Coalmerchant ) driving
a Cart loaded with bals and drawn by
three Horses, the Property of Mr. Snell
from the Thomaside under the Adelphi
towards George Street in the Parish of
St. Martin in the Fields , the Deced being
upon the Copse of the last with the Bader
in one Hand and the whip in the other
Says that he followed the Cart and saw
the Off wheel of the Cart go over a Spur
Stone at the Corner of a wall, that by
the sudden jolt of the Cart the Deced was
thrown of the Copse to the Ground on the
near side, and that the near wheel of
the Cart passed over the Deced's left thigh
and the leftside of his Body, says that
he look up the Deced who was not able
to stand the left thigh being broke, say
that the Deced was put upon a Chairman
House in order to be carried to the Hospital
but Deced died in a few Minutes in Duke
Street in the Parish of St. Martin in the
fields
