Informations taken this Sixteenth
day of September 1779 at the Parish
of St. George Hanover Square within
the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of John Hornsby< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

John Gale< no role > at No. 23 Great Ayloffe Street
White Chapel Taylor on his Oath saith That
on Saturday last (Sepr. 11th.) about Eight o'Clock
in the Evening Dept. went into a Publick
House the Sign of the Bengal in Mansol
Street in the Parish of St. Mary White Chapel
in the County of Middlesex , and saw a Man
whose Name Dept. does not know Sitting
in a Box in the Taproom with some of
Mr. Cott Men, Says that he sat down in
the Box with the Men and that in about
a Quarter of an hour John Hornsby< no role > the
Deced came in and sat down in the same
Box, and drank part of two Pots of Beer
there in a very friendly manner, Says
that the Deced and the Man with whom
he afterwards fought had some talk of
fighting each of them o'Clock, for a Leg
of Mutton which Mr. Hornsby proposed, Says that
the Deced went into another Box and Eat
some Supper with two of Mr. Cotts Men
Says that the Deced had more talk about
Fighting Cocks, and the other man said
that he would not fight a Cock for less
than a Guinea, which the Deced refund
at first but afterwards agreed to it, Says
that
