Informations taken this Sixteenth day
of August 1779 at the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of William Carr< no role > an Infant
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty and
County.

Adam Richardson< no role > Whartinger to Mr. Wood
at Northumberland Street in the Parish of St.
Martin in the Fields Westmr. on his Oath saith
That he was yesterday afternoon about five
o Clock in the Room at Northumberland
[..] Whart when he heard a Boy upon
one of the Coal Lighters upon the Thames there
crying out Help Help, here is a Boy
Drowning, upon which Dept. went and
after tying a Rope around him, jumped
into the Thames and with his feet felt
the Deced at the Bottom of the River Says
that with a Hitcher he got the Deced up
and carried to the Shore, and then to
Mr. Philpotia Publican at Northumberland
Wharf where some Gentlemen Endrovored [..]
for a long time to Recover him, without Feet,
the Deced being dead, and Dept. Observed
ns Marks of violence upon the Deced.
Says that he saw two Boys playing upon
the Craft before the Deced was Drowned
and believes that the Deced Accidentally
fell out of one of the Lighters (which
floated) and was Drowned, the other
Boy being then upon another Lighter
