Informations taken this Seventh
day of December 1778 at the Parish of
St. John the Evangelist within the Liberty
of Westmr . in the County of Midsex upon
an Inquisition touching the death of
Elizabeth Brook< no role > lying deed in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

James Brook< no role > Son of Elizabeth Brook< no role > the
Deced, on his Oath saith that the Deced Lodged
at Mrs Sarah Dunbabin< no role > in great Peter Street in the Parish
of St. John the Evangelist Westmr. That the Deced
came on Saturday last (Decr. 5th.) about Noon
into Mrs. Dunbarbins Shop (where Dept. is
Apprentice) and paid to him one Shilling for
her week's Lodging and fourteen pence for things
had in the Shop, Deced then appearing as usual
Says that Deced went away, into her Lodging
as Dept. thought, Says that he did not see the
Deced afterwards until yesterday Decr. 6th.
between Eleven & twelve o'Clock, when Dept.
went to carry a pair of Butter Shies to Deced
and having knocked at her Room Door and
calling several times, & having no Answer
and finding the Key in the Lock on the inside
of the Door, Dept. looked three a Window
in the Backyard and Saw the Deced sitting
upon the Floor with her Back against the Door
appearing to Dept. to be dead, Says that he
immediately acquainted Mr. Dunbabin who
sent for Mr. Reeves, a Neighbour, who came,
and soon after told Dept. that she Deced had
Hanged herself to the Key of the Door, and
Dept. believes that she Hanged herself,
