Informations taken this Twelfth
day of January 1778 at the Parish of
St. James with in the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition.
touching the Death of Thomas Wright< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

John Winterburn< no role > who had the care of the
House of Charles Wolfran Coinwel Esqr . in Golden
Square in the parish of St. James Westmr. when
the Family were out of Town on his Oath saith
That Thomas Wright< no role > the Deced ( [..] was Butler
to Mr. Cornwall and had been out of Town with
his Master) Says that the Deced came to Town
on Saturday last and slept in his own Room
in Mr. Cornwall's House that Night, Says that
he saw the Deced yesterday Morning, that the
Deced went out and Dept. saw him after his
Return in Mr. Cornwall's House between Twelve
and One o'Clock, Says that in about half an
hour after the Footman asked Dept. to go with
him to call the Deced to lay the Cloth, upon
which he went up to the Deced's Room and after knocking and
having no Answer he looked through the
key hole of the Door and saw the Deced
Hanging, the Door being locked and the
Key in the Lock on the inside of the Door
Says that he went for a Smith who came
there and forced open the Door with a Broker
That they went into Deced'd Room and saw
him, Hanging by a Leather Strap fastened
to an Iron Staple [..] drove into a wooden Kerb
Says that the Smith cut the Leather Strap, and
Dept. appeared to be dead, and Dept. believes
that the Deced Hanged himself Says that the
