Informations taken this Twenty fifth
day of August 1777 at the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of John Greensmith< no role > lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Christopher Kendrew< no role > a Lodger in the House
of Richard Welch< no role > in Leg Alley in the Parish of
St. Martin in the Fields Westmr. Stay in a [..]
on his Oath saith That John Greensmith< no role > Father to [..] is
a Lodger in a fore Garret over this Depts. Room
That on the 12th. day of this Instant Augt. in
the Evening Dept. being in his own Room
when fourething came down from above on the outside
which darkened the Window, and fell
into the Alley upon the Stone Pavement
upon which Depts. Wife looked out and said
Jack Greensmith< no role > had fallen out of the Window
Says, that he went down into the Court and
saw some Person take up the Deced who
was helpless and unable to get up Says
that he observed a Wound an the back part
of Deced's Head towards the left side which
bled very much, Says that he went with
Deced to St. George's Hospital where the
Surgeon Examined the Deced's Hard & said
that his Skull was Fractured, and Depts. then
saw some of the Deced's Brains and Dept.
Says that the Deced died in the Hospital
on the 22d. Instant as Dept. was informed
Says that the Deced was carried up after
the fall to his Father's Room, That he found
the Room Door Locked, which he forced open
with a Poker, and saw only two young Children
there, and believes that the Deced's fall was Accidental
