Informations taken this Sixth day
of December 1776 atthe Knights bridge
in the Parish of St. Margaret with in the
Liberty of Westmr. in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the death of
Catherine Matthews< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Catherine the Wife of Robert Mathews< no role > , and
Mother to the Deced on her Oath That
on Sunday Morning Cost (Decr. 1) about
Eleven o'Clock Dept. was in her Lodging Room
in the House of Thomas Read< no role > at Knight bridge
the Deced, her two Sisters and a Nurse Child
being with her, Says that she had some
Mutton and Brother upon the Fire in a fir
Kettle, the Dead being at the Window putting
on her Cap, That the Deced an Infant of the
age of Seven Years sat upon a Stoal before
the Fire, That her Eldest Sister of about
nine years old, took the Cover off the Kittle
to see if it Boiled, that the handle of the Kettle
Catched in the Childs Gown Sleeve which pulled
the Kettle down off the Fire, and that the
Boiling Water fell over the Deced, and Sealded her
in several parts of her Body, Says that she
called out immediately and, several People
come to her who say the Deced, Says that
Mr. Edwards an Apothecary was fetched, wh [..]
advised Dept. to anoint the Deced with
Succeed Oil, as she had done before, Says
that the Deced died on Wednesday Decr. 4. and
believes that her Death was carried by her being
Sealded as abovementioned. Says that there
was no other Persons that is abovementioned in
the Room when the Accident happened and
believes it to be Accidental
