Informations taken this Eighth day of July
1776 at the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields within
the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex touching
the death of Matthew Davies< no role > lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County.

Francis Easter< no role > brook a Soldier on his Oath saith
That he works as a Coal Heaver at the Adelphi
Wharf in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields ,
That he went on Board one of the Lighters there
Yesterday Afternoon about Six o'Clock, that about Nine o'Clock Mr. Davies
Father of the Deced came there to inquire for the Deced
Says that the Deceds Father came there again this Money
between four and five o'Clock to inquire for the Deced
That they Searched some time and could not find
him Says that he at last fond the Deced lying on
his face in the Mud, with the Stern of a Barge
upon his Head and Shoulders, Says that he got
the Deced upto a Barge, and carried, him to
the Shore at the Adelphie , having no Mar [..]
of violence upon his Body. & only a little hurt
upon one Eye, occasioned as Dept. believes by his
lying in the Mud upon his face
