Informations taken this 24th. day of
January 1776 at the Parish of St. Martin in
the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr . in the
County of Middlesex upon an Inquisition
touching the Death of Judith Baldwin< no role > lying
Dead in the Said Parish Liberty & County

Mary< no role > the Wife of William Price< no role > of Hedge Lane
in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields Victualler
on her Oath saith, That she has known Judith
Baldwin
< no role > the Deced about three months, that the
Deced very often came into Deced's House for
Beer, That the Deced on Monday Evening last
(Jany. 22d.) about half hour after seven oClock
came alone into Depts. House called for a Pot
of Beer, Which she took with her home as Dept.
believes, Says that in about an hour Mr.
Baldwin, Husband to the Deced, came into Depts.
House very much frightened, and desired Mr.
Price to go with him, but Mr. Price being busy
Dept. followed Mr. Baldwin to his House, when
Mr. Baldwin went into his yard backwards, and
said, "See what a Seene I have, my Wife Hanging
upon which Dept. went up to Deced who was
Hanging by a piece of small Cord Which was
fastened to an Iron Nail drove into a Wooden
Beena in the Brick wall in the Yard belonging
to Mr. Baldwin's House in Princess Court Hedge Lane
in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields , and also
fastened around the Deced's Neck, the Deced's
knees being upon or very near a Wooden Bench
in the Yard by the side of the wall, Says that the
felt the Deced's Hand which was Cold, and Deced
appeared to be dead, Says than she ran to the Door
and called out, that Mr. Whalley a Soldier came
there to the Deced to assist Mr. Baldwin, Says
that Mr. Baldwin & the Deced lived in Harmony
together and Dept. verily belives that the Deceds
Hanged herself, Says that the Deced was a well
behaved woman, of a Grave Disposition and
spoke
