Informations taken this Sixteenth day
of January 1775 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Middlesex upon on Inquisition
touching the death of a Man unknown lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County

Samuel Coxen< no role > of Old Brentford in Middlesex
Fisherman [..] on his Oath saith That on Saturday last
about Noon (Jany. 14th.) Dept. was in a Boat with his
Father upon the River Thomas, and Rowing their Boat
up the River opposite the Turpentine House on Mill
Bank in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square
Says that he saw the Deced Floating upon the River
Thomas up with the [..] ,Says that they Rowed
their Boat to the Deced. and Dept. tied a Line
around the Deced's Leg, and pulled the Deced
to the Shore by the Turpentine House, in said
Parish, Says that he observed no Marks of Violence
upon the Deced, who appeared to have been a
long while drowned. Says that in the presence
of Mr. Bear and several others he Searched the
Deced's Pockets and therein found Eight Shillings
and three six pences in Silver, three half pennys &
threetwo fartings, a Small Key, a Clasp Knife, one
[..] Linnen Handkerchief (Marked E. C. 2.) and
another Marked E. C. & a Pair of Gloves [..]
Says that the Deced's Cloaths were dark Grey with
Black Buttons Worsted Ribbed Stokings, Shoes with
Silver Burkles, the Knee Buckles, & Stock Buckle
being likewise Silver, a pair of Sleeve Buttons set
in Silver, & that the Deced had a lilk Handkerchief
about his Neck, not Marked. And Dept. says that
the Deced had no Papers whatever in his Packets.
