An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint Clement Danes
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Sixteenth day of September in the Fourteenth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
a New born Female Child then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of William
Seager

Matthias Chappington< no role > , Moses Wingrove< no role > , John Cribb< no role > , John Albett< no role > , John Miller< no role > ,
William Beane< no role > and George Vaughan< no role > , good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Female Child came to
h er Death, do upon their Oath say , That a certain Woman unknown did lately
bring Forth the said Female Child alive, and that the said Woman
unknown or some other Person or Persons to the said Jurors unknown
on the Sixteenth day of September in the Year aforesaid with Force and Arms
at the Parish aforesaid within the Liberty and County aforesaid in and
upon the said Female Infant Child in the Place of God and our said Lord the King
then and there being feloniously wilfully and of his her or their Malice
fore thought did make an Assault, And that the said Person or Persons to the
Jurors aforesaid unknown her the said new born Female Child did then
and there take into his her or their Hands and her the said Female Child
[..] a certain Privy or [..] House situate in [..]
Parish Liberty and County aforesaid feloniously wilfully [..] of his her or
their Malice fore thought did violently cast and throw down; [..] Means
whereof she the said Female Infant Child in the Soil or Fi [..] then and
there contained in the said Privy or Necessary House was then and there
Suffocated and Smothered, of which the said Suffocation and Smothering she the
said Female Infant Child then and there instantly died. And so the Jurors
aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that the said Person or Persons
unknown her the said Female Infant Child in Manner and by the Means aforesaid
feloniously wilfully and of his her or their Malice for thought did kill and murder
against the Peace of our said Lord the King his Brown and Dignity In Witness
whereof as well the said Coroner, as the said William Seager< no role > Foreman of the said
Jurors, on the behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows, in their presence,
have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals, the Day Year and Place
first above written
