Informations taken this Eleventh day of
December 1773 at the Parish of St. Martin in
the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County
of Midsex upon an Inquisition touching the death
of Gavin Shiells< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

George Farquarson< no role > of the Strand in the Parish of
St. Martin in the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr.
Jeweller on his Oath saith That Gavin Shiells< no role > the
Deced has lodged in a Back Room on the Ground
Floor in Depts. House about twelve months Says that on Thursday last
about six o'Clock in the Afternoon Deced drank
two Dishes of Tea with Dept. in his House and then
went out, saying, that he was going to Mr. Blanchard
and desired to have some of Depts. Shop Cards & some
of his own to leave with him which Dept. gave to the
Deced whowent out immediately, Says that he
was informed by this Wife Mrs. Farquarson that the
Deced came house that Night a little before Twelve
o'Clock, and that he went to his Apartment and very
soon after locked the Door, Says that Yesterday
Morning on being informed that his Maid Servant
had knocked at Deced's room Door in order to make
his Fire as usual and was not let in, Dept. went
and Knocked and called several times at Deced's
Door and having no Answer, heaboutbetween
One and two o'Clock Yesterday put up the Jash of
the Window in Deced Bedchamber (which looked into
Depts. Yard and was not fastened) and on his going
into the Room, he saw the Deced hanging by a
small Cord which was aroundthe toppart of
a Glass Case upon the top of a Book Case, in Deced's
Bedchamber and tied about his Neck, Appearing to
be dead, and soon after Dept. felt his Hand which
was Cold, Says that Mr. Falkner and Mr. Clinton Went
