Information taken this ninth day of
November 1772 at the Parish of St. Anne within
the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death of Robert
Haslop
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Joseph Sydenham< no role > Apprentice to John Godfrey< no role > of
Castle Street in the Parish of St. Mary le bone Baker
on his Oath saith That last Thursday Morning Novr.5 [..]
Mr. Godfrey said that his Owen Chimney Smoaked an
that he would have it swept That [..] between four and
Five o' Clock that afternoon Dept. being in the Bakehouse with
Edward Bryan< no role > another Apprentice when Bryan said
that a Chimney Sweeper had passed by and that the
Chimney might as well be then Swept and Dept. order
Bryan to call him, which he did, and the Deced
came there with a Man who appeared to be a Chim [..]
sweeper, Says that the Deced immediately pulle [..]
off his Shoes andimmediatelywent up into the
Chimney without being Forced or compelled by an
Person to go, Says that Bryan and the Man who
came with the Deced went out across the Street and
returned immediately saying, that they had seen the
Deced at the top of the Chimney, Says that in about
ten Minutes he heard the Deced cry out, that he
could not get [..] Down upon which the Man wen [..]
to Fetch another Boy in order to assist the Deced
who came there in about ten Minutes and cleared
away some of the Swoot from the Deced, but could
not pull him down upon which the Man ordered
the Boy to push the Deced up, which the Boy said
he could not do, Says that the Man then broke open
a Hole in the Chimney and pulled the Deced out
