An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint Anne
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Ninth day of November in the Thirteenth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Robert Haslop< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of Thomas
Bramwell

John Rippon< no role > and Francis Lee< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Robert Haslop< no role > came to
his Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said Robert Haslop< no role > a Chimney sweeper
on the Fifth day of November in the Year aforesaid being employed to
Sweep the Chimney of John Godfrey< no role > a Baker situate and being in Castle
Street in the County aforesaid; And being then and there returning down
from the top of the said Chimney, It so happened that the said Robert
Haslop
< no role > , by his Shirt rolling up around his Body, Accidently and by
Misfortune stuck fast in the said Chimney, near the bottom thereof, by
Reason whereof the said Robert Haslop< no role > was then and there Smothered
and Suffocated, of which said Smothering and Suffocation he the said
Robert Haslop< no role > , on the same day, at the said Parish of Saint Anne within
the Liberty and County aforesaid, did die. And so Jurrors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that the said Robert Haslop< no role > in
Manner and by the Means aforesaid, Accidentally Casually and by
Misfortune came to his death, and not otherwise .In Witness
whereof as well the said Coroner, as the said Thomas Bramwell< no role >
Foreman of the said Jurrors, on the behalf of himself and the rest
of his Fellows, in their presence, have to this Inquisition set
their Hands and Seals, the Day Years and Place First above Written.
