Informations taken this Sixteenth day
of April 1772 at the Parish of St George Hanr.
Square within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching the
death of John Olive< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

Robert Kay< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Spenceley in Brick Street
in his Oath saith That he is a Relation of Mrs. Olive and
generally Eats at the Deceds in Spurlings Buildings in
Brick Street in the Parish of St. George Hanr. Square
Says that he went to the Deced's House to Breakfast to
Tuesday Morning between Nine and Ten o'Clock (April [..]
and was told by a Woman that was Ironing that the
Deced had been down Stairs and was gone up again
and Dept. was likewise told that the Deced & Mrs. Olive
had [..] same words that Morning, Says that he was
away after Breakfast, and returned there about On [..]
o'Clock the same day, Mrs. Olive being then gone out
Says that she returned between three and four o'Clock
and on Enquiring for the Deced was told by one of
the washer woman that she had been to call him but
had no Answer, upon which Mrs. Olive went up Stairs
to Deced's Room and knocked and called several time
at the Door and having no answer Mrs. Olive grew [..]
uneasy and endeavoured to force open the Door with [..]
Hatchet, but could not, Says that he then fitch his
forced open the Door and on going into the Room so
the Deced Hanging with a thick Cord around his N [..]
and thro an Iron Staple drove intothe Wallan upright [..] Says that
he appeared to Dept. to be upon his Knees, That he
called in a Coachman who went to the Deced and
loosened the Cord which was about the Deceds Neck
and assisted this Dept. to lay the Deced upon the Bed
the Deced being dead and appearing to have been d [..]
