Informations taken this 17th day. of January
1772 at the Parish of St. Paul Covent Garden within
the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of Midsex upon
an Inquisition touching the death of Woman
unknown lying dead in the said Parish Liberty

William Payne< no role > This name instance is in set 2582. one of the Watchmen of the Parish of St. Paul
Covent Garden on his Oath saith, That when he was crying
half an hour after six o'Clock this Morning in Hart Street
in said Parish, he saw the Deced lying upon her Back
in said Street close tonearthe back door of Mr. Morby's Bagrins
whom he supposed to be in Liquor, Says that he called
to her, that the Deced was not able to make any Answer
but breathed, Says that he then apprehended that the
Deced was dying, it being then very Cold, & [..] Says that he
Acquainted the Beadle at the Watchhouse therewith, who went immediately
to the Deced, and from there to the Overseer of the Parish
for his Order to carry Deced to the Poor house, and she was
accordingly carried there by James Gilaspy< no role > another
Watchman , but died before she got there, Says that
he observed some Blood upon the back part of the
Deced's Cap, but he did not examine the Head, Says
that he went thro Hart Street every half hour last
Night, and heard no Noise or Disturbance there.

Richard Griffiths< no role > of Bedford Street in the Parish of St.
Paul Covent Garden Surgeon on his Oath saith That he this
day carefully Examined the Deced's Head, and found a
Wound upon the back part thereof about one Inch in
length, and a Bruise about the Wound, Says that there
was no depression of the Scull, and as there are no other
Bruises, or Bleeding at the Nose, Dept is inclined to think
that there was no Contusion, which immediately occasioned
her death, But that according to Depts. Supposition the
Wound being upon the back part of the Head, from thence
