Informations taken this First day of
October 1770 at the Parish of St. John the
Evangelist within the City & Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the Death of a Woman & unknown
lying dead in the said Parish City Liberty
& County

Thomas Page< no role > a Soldier in the Duke of Gloves to
Company in the First Regiment of Foot Guards on his
Oath saith, That he was walking up Mill Bank
along with Robert Castle< no role > between six & seven o' Clock
last Saturday Morning (Septr. 29) and was informed
by a Man who was Rowing down the River Thames in
a Boat, that a Woman was Drowned on the Thames
higher on the Bank between the Fathers & her [..] Says that they walked forw [..]
and in the Thames near the Feathers in the Parish
of St. John the Evangelist Westmr. he formed a woman Downed [..]
floating upon the [..] Timber near the Shore, the Tide being
there Flowing, Says that the Woman was tied by a Cord
which was fastened to an Iron Staple drove into a fin [..]
of Timber by the side of the River and around the
Deced's left wrist, Says that he untied the Cord
from the Staple and tied it to another Staple in
another Piece of Timber about three or four Yard
nearer to the Shore, and left her there tied, Says
time, but that he observed no Marks of violence
upon her, Says that Mr. Bendar who keeps the
Sign of the Feathers there, then told this Dept. that
he had no Business to meddle with the woman for [..]
she was sufficiently tied before by the Waterman
