Informations taken this Nineteenth day of
May 1770 at Knights bridge in the Parish of St.
Margaret Westmr . in the County of Middlesex upon
an Inquisition touching the Death of William
Matthews
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Robert Calley< no role > a Lodger at Mrs. Moody in Knightsbridge
on his Oath saith That between six and seven o'Clock
yesterday in the Afternoon (May 18) Dept. was in a
two pair of Stairs room in Mrs. Moodys in looking
through the Window into Hyde Park , saw a Man riding
on a Bay Horse in Hyde Park in the Road leading from
Hyde Park Corner to Kensington , That he saw the Men
coming along some Way, that he was alone, and the
Horse on a gentle Trot, and not any way unruly,
That all are a sudden the Gentlemen slid down on
the left side of the Horse in the Road on his Face
and in about a Minute turned upon his Back
the Horse standing by him, Says that he went
immediately to the Deced and found him lying upon
his Back with his Knees drawn up towards his Head,
Says that the Deced was Speechless and without any
Signs of Life; Says that he assisted to move the Deced
and sent for an Apothecary to Bleed him who soon
came and attempted to Bleed the Deced in the Arm
but he did not Bleed. and Dept. believes that he was
dead, and that he fell down off the Horse in the Fit,
Says that the Deced was soon carried to Mr. Beadle in
Knightsbridge where his Pockets were Searched and
divers things taken out of them of which an Account
was taken by Mr. Beadle.
