Informations taken this Fifteenth day of May
1770 at the Parish of St. John the Evangelist within the
City & Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex upon an
Inquisition touching the Death of William Dicey< no role > lying
dead in the said City Liberty and County.

Ann Pain< no role > wife of Thomas Pain< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Tiley
in Peter Street Westmr. on her Oath saith That she knew
the Deced and dealt with him, he keeping a Chandler's Shop
in Peter Street aforesaid, Says that she went into Deced's Shop
on Friday Evening Last (May 11th.) between Nine & ten o'Clock
and saw him Monding an Old Tub upon the Counter, Deced
appearing to be in Health, having both the Children by him
and was Singing to them, Says that she went away and left
Deced in the Shop, That in about half an hour Dept. was
informed that Mr. Dicey was very bad, upon which she went
to his House and found Deced sitting upon the Necessary and
Mr. Lindsay the Apothecary Bleeding him, who advised Deced
to be put into a Warm Bed which was done, and Dept. soon
found that he was dead, Says that she saw the Body of the
Deced on Saturday when the Head did not appear to be swelled
or discoloured, that she sat up with the Corps on Saturday
Night, and that about Three o'Clock on Sunday Morning She
observed the Sheet that covered Deced to be Bloody, which
she found come from the Deced's Month, That his Neck soon
looked of a Red Colour and that the side of the Head soon
became so but his Countenance was not changed, Says that
on Sunday Evening the Head was Swelled much the Body but a
little Swelled. And this Dept. says that Mrs. Dicey the Deced's wife
often told her, that she lived very happy with her Husband the
Deced, and particularly for three or four months last past
