Informations taken this Fifth day
of February 1770 at the Parish of St.
Martin in the Fields within the Liberty
of Westmr. in the Fields within the Liberty
Inquisition touching the Death of John Oriell< no role >
being dead in the said Parish Liberty and
County.

Patrick Collans< no role > a Laborer, Lodging with Mr. Dign [..]
in Keryor Street St. Giles , on his Oath saith, That
he was at Work for the Deced who was a Bricklayer
last Friday upon a House in St. Martins Lane , Says
that the Deced was Repairing the Houses of John
Princand
< no role > and Mr. Ropers in said Lane, That the
Deced about Three & Clock that afternoon was standing
upon a Board which was laid from the top of
Mr. Roper's Horn to the Parapet Wall of Mr. Prineand
House, and that there [..] small Boarder
across that Board, Says that he was letting down
some of the Scaffold Boards used there, when he
saw the Deced fall down upon the top of a Chairman's
Chair that stood an the Pavement in St. Martins Lane
but that he did not see him fall from the Scaffold
and Says that there was no Person with the Deced
upon the Scaffold, or near him at the time for fell
Mr. Clark the other Bricklayer Laborerbeing then with this Dept.
and the other Laborer upon the Lady [..] . Says that
he came down and found the Deced Speechless and
unable to move, bleeding very much out of the Month
from a wound in the Forehead, and another on the back
part of his Head, Says that the Deced was put upon
a Chairman's House in order to be carried to the Hospital
but that he died before they got to the top of St. Martins
Lane .
