Saying that if he was left there he would put him
out, they had brought a Drunken Man there and must
take him away with them, Says that a Coach was sent
for, and Deced was helped into the Coach and placed at
the bottom of it, and Dept. went into the Coach to him
and Mr. Jackson & the Corporal walked by the Coach until
they come to the Sign of the Red Lyon in Drury Lane
where Deced's Brother lived (the Dept. not knowing where
Deced lived) Says that they knocked at the Red Lyon
Door several times but nobody Answered, it being their
between twelve and One o'Clock, Says that a Watchman
informed Dept. that a Brother of the Man that kept the
Red Lyon lived a little Higher in Drury Lane , Says that
he knocked at that Door, and the Man spoke to him, but
would not open the Door, Says that he informed the Brother
they had brought Mr. Drake there in a Coach very much
in Liquor and desired him to take him in, which he
refused, saying that Deced was always in that Condition.
Says that they Drove to the Red Lyon again and knocked
but nobody would Answer, Says that the Deced than
sat in the bottom of the Coach asleep and Sworing as he
had done all the way from Theobalds Row, Says that
Mr. Jackson and the Corporal then went towards home, and
that the Watchman told Dept. that he might get a Lodging
for Deced at the Sign of the White Hartt in Hart Street
and Dept. ordered the Coachman to drive there, the Deced being
in the bottom of the Coach, and this Dept. finding the inside
of the Coach offensive went upon the Box and the
Coachman drove to the Door of the White Hart , and Dept.
agreed with the Landlord for two Shillings for a Lodging for
himself and Deced, Says that the Coachman this Dept. and
another Man lifted the Deced out of the Coach and carried
him into the Sign of the White Hart , the Deced being quite
helpless, and dying, Says that a Surgeon was fetched
who Pricked the Deced in both Arms, which bled but little
and the Surgeon said that he was a dead Man and Dept.
was soon satisfied that he was dead. Says that he went
to call the Deced's Brothers who soon come to Deced.
