That Mr. Peter Rose< no role >
who lived next door to the Deced came
to Dept. yesterday Morning about Seven o'Clock, (as he had
the Morning before) and informed him that Mr. Abraham
Rouvier< no role >
, (Husband to the Deced) had been Singing, and beating
the Tables, and making a great Noise in his House all the last Night (which
is next door to Mr. Rose's House in the Parish aforesaid) Says
that he went house with Mr. Rose, and saw a Pair of Boots
hanging across the Gate before Mr. Rouvier's Poor and a [..]
Pair of Tongs in one of the Boots, and the Fore & Back Doors
open, Says that he knocked at the Street Door several times
but no Body came to the Door, Says that in about a Quarter
of an hour he saw Mr. Rouvier come along the Road Leading
from Chelsea Bridge to Chelsea
, and went into his own House,
Says that he this Dept. went into Mr. Rose's Garden, intending
to speak to Mr. Rouvier, and looking over Mr. Rose's Pails, he
saw a Tallow Candle floating upon the Water in a Water Tub
in Mr. Rouvier's Garden, and on looking into the Tub he
saw the Deced's Face, the upper part thereof and her Nose
being above the Water, Says that he immediately acquainted
Mr. Rose there with who likewise saw the Deced, Says that he
sent for Mr. William Jon a Constable, who came and with
Dept. and others went up Stairs, and knocked at Mr. Rouvier's
Bedchamber Door, which Mr. Rouvier immediately opened
and Mr. Jon took him into Custody, and on being asked by
Dept. where his Wife was, Answered he could not tell, that
she went to Bed before him the last Night, Says that they
went with Mr. Rouvier into his Garden and shewed him his
Wife Drowned in the Water Tub, upon which he said, very well
let the Water out, being quite unconcerned, Says that he
went with Mr. Rouvier first to Mr. Kynaston, and afterwards
