Informations taken this Sixteenth day of
June 1768 at the Parish of St. George Hanover
Square within the Liberty, of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex on an Inquisition touching the Death
of Thomas Birch< no role > lying dead [..] the said Parish
Liberty and County.

Edward Millon< no role > one of the Keepers of Hyde Park at the Lodge
near the Magazine on his Oath saith, That on Sunday Morning
last (June 12.) about Eight of the Clock, two young Men come
to Dept. House and acquainted him that a Man was just
Drowned in the Serpentine River in Hyde Park, Says that
he went with them to the River side and there found the
Coat Washcoat & Breeches Shirt. Hat Shoes & Stockings, with
a Watch, a Guinea, & Six pence (which Dept. believe belonged
to the Deced) say that he could not at that; time see the
Deced, but yesterday Morning perceived a Man's Head
above Water in the said River about fifteen yards from
the Shore Says that he went into the Boat and pulled
the Deced to the shore in the Parish of St. George Hanover
Shore , says that he observed no Marks of violence
upon the Deced, Says that he acquainted the Deceds
Friends that the Body was found and that it was
afterwards carried away by the Bearers to the Bonehouse
belonging to St. George's Parish

Millon

Daniel Carter< no role > a Carpenter & Joyner Lodging with Mr.
Benson, Carpenter in King Street Golden Square on his
Oath saith, That on Sunday Morning last between six
& Seven o'Clock he went with Edward Griffiths< no role > into Hyde
Park where they met with John Badson< no role > , and all went
together on the North side of the Serpentine River, there
where they saw the Deced undressing himself, Says that
the Deced asked them if they would go into the Water
to which they agreed, and Deced immediately, went in
and this Dept. and Griffiths soon followed, says that after
Swimming a little near the Shores said Griffiths sworn
across the River and this Dept. followed until he got
to the Middle of the River, and there finding his Strength
fail he turned about in order to come back and then saw
