in the County of Middlesex }

Informations taken this Twenty fifth day
of September 1767 at the Parish of St Martin
in the Fields within the Liberty of Westmr
in the County of Middlesex , on an Inquisition
touching the Death of new born Female
Child lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

William Donalds< no role > Servant to Mr. Duffield a
Haberdasher in Drury Lane on his Oath saith
That on Wednesd Night last, between Nine and Ten
o'Clock Dept. was going along Drury Lane , and by the
side of the Burying Ground belonging to the Parish
of St. martin in the Fields , there saw a Child lying
Naked on the Ground, with a Basket, and a piece
of Linnen Cloth lying near the Child, Says that he
took up the Child and put it into the Cloth in the
Basket, and carried it to Sir John Fielding< no role > , who
advised this Dept. to take it to the Watchhouse
belonging to the Parish in St. Martins Lane , which
he accordingly did, and the Deced was then put
into the Bonehouse, Says that the Deced was dead
and Cold when he found it in Drury lane ,

William Leigh< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Mc. Donald in
Drury Lane on his Oath saith That Richard Cunningham< no role >
a Lad about the age of ten years Stepson to this Dept
went out of this Depts. Lodging, about Seven
o'Clock last Wednesday Evening to play, and in
about a Quarter of an hour returned with a Basket
in his Hand Saying he had found something,
upon which this Dept. looked into the Basket
which was in part Sewed, and saw a Child
