Informations taken this Third day of
November 1766 at the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex
on an Inquisition touching the Death of a Newborn
Child lying dead in the said Parish Liberty and County

William Norton< no role > of the Strand in the Parish of St. Martin in
the Fields Surgeon on his Oath saith, That he this day
Examined a Child in the Workhouse of said Parish, which is
very much dried, and appears to have been dead two months
or upwards, Says that the Child is a full grown Child, but
Dept. cannot say whether said Child was born alive, or not
nor does there appear any Mark of Violence upon said Child

Elizabeth Martin< no role > in the Wife of Alexander Martin< no role > of Castle Street
in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields , on her Oath saith, That
last Night about a Quarter before Nine o'Clock Maldm. Byrne a
Watchman called this Dept. who was in her own House, saying
that there was a Box in the Passage adjoining to Depts. House
Says that she went but and gave a Wooden Box lye in the
Passage , Nailed down & his with a Ribband Says that she called some Neighbours
who opened the Box, and found a Child therein wrapped
in a piece of flannel, Says that the Child was Dead and
appeared to have been Dead some time, being very much dried
Says that she soon after sent to Watchman to acquaint the
Officers of the Parish therewith,Says that Mr. Thorne the County
of the Night and George Barn the Watchman come there
a very short time and to
and then went to Bed leaving the
Child in the Passage .
